Che? It means “cool” in Argentina, and you’ll find yourself saying it a lot while skiing and snowboarding at Cerro Catedral, Cerro Bayo, and Chapelco; or eating, wine tasting, and partying in Bariloche, Villa la Angostura and San Martin de los Andes. The 8 day Powder Triangle journeys through Argentina’s 7 Lakes region featuring amazing scenery, cuisine, culture and some of the best skiing and snowboarding in Argentina. A classic South American road trip this adventure travels through a beautiful part of Patagonia and its crystal clear rivers, glacial lakes, volcanic peaks, mystical forests, and expansive mountain terrain. This trip is a great mix of resort skiing and snowboarding, introductory backcountry terrain, and limitless touring opportunities. We begin in Bariloche, the adventure capital of Argentina and home resort of Cerro Catedral. Steeped in rich mountain culture and a very distinct European feel Catedral is Argentina’s largest resort with thousands of acres to explore both in bounds and hike to access. Granite spires pierce the ridgelines and spectacular views of the massive Tronador volcano and Lake Nahuel Huapi make Catedral one of the most scenic ski and snowboard destinations in the world.Next we travel along the Limay River to San Martin de los Andes, a favorite Argentine mountain and lake retreat, and the slopes of Chapelco. Chapelco is a very family friendly resort with super fun tree skiing and excellent off piste options. Finally we end up at the sleepy lakeside village of La Angostura and Cerro Bayo. Situated on the north shoreline of Lago Nahuel Huapi, Cerro Bayo is full of Argentine charm, few crowds, and lots of very playful terrain for all levels.Join us for a skiing, snowboarding, and cultural adventure through a spectacular part of Patagonia, and experience the best of Argentina in true CASA Tours style.

Trip Itinerary

Days 1 – 3  Arrival In Bariloche – Travel to San Martin – Ski / Ride Chapelco

Guests must arrange flights to San Carlos de Bariloche airport from Buenos Aires the day before their departure.  Guests are met  by their CASA Guides at their respective Bariloche hotels on the first morning then travel north along the Rio Limay to San Martin de los Andes, a classy Argentine lakeside retreat and the base for Chapelco ski center. For 2 days we ski/ride this family orientated mountain with surprisingly good tree skiing and backcountry access as well as gentle cruisers, mellow open bowls and plenty of fresh tracks for all. Our elegant hotel is downtown close to all the evening action. On night 1 we have a trip orientation and welcome dinner at one of San Martin’s local restaurants.

Days 4-7 – Bariloche – Ski/Ride Cerro Catedral – Cerro Bayo

The morning of day 4 we travel the 7 Lakes Road to La Angostura and Cerro Bayo. A small, ‘boutique’ ski resort, Cerro Bayo offers spectacular vistas of Lago Nahuel Huapi and the surrounding mountains of Argentina’s 1st national park. For those eager a short hike along the summit ridge gains access to superb powder terrain. The next 3 days are spent exploring the vast spired terrrain at Cerro Catedral, a modern ski center with a distinctly European feel featuring over 3,000 acres of on piste terrain, extensive lift-accessed backcountry steeps, and some of the most spectacular scenery imaginable. The Powder Gods have been very good to us here. In the evenings we experience Bariloche’s lively nightlife and excellent eateries featuring local Patagonian trout, lamb and beef to go with its fabulous vino.  A celebratory farewell asado ends our tour in true Argentine tradition.

Day 8 – Bariloche – Departure Day

After breakfast, we travel back along the shores of Lago Nahuel Huapi leaving San Carlos de Bariloche airport in time for guests returning flights to Buenos Aires.
