Ski Arpa, Chile’s only true snow cat resort, is a magical place and one of the wildest ski/snowboard experiences on the planet. Climbing out of the Aconcagua Valley passing by stands of saguaro cacti and the occasional goat blockade, Arpa is accessed by a very adventurous and winding 4 X 4 mining road. If this does not get your juices flowing the wide – open alpine terrain at Arpa certainly will. The area is absolutely massive and offers magnificent views. From the summit of Cerro Blanco riders take in vistas of the 6,962 meter (22, 841 feet) Aconcagua, the tallest peak in the Americas, as well as the Pacific Ocean horizon line. Operated by the legendary seventy-something Toni Sponar, one of the most unique ski personalities you will ever encounter, Arpa is Toni’s lifelong work and his ‘field of dreams’.
Arpa’s alpine wonderland will set your spirit free. Unparalleled terrain and excellent high altitude snow conditions create an Andean snow adventure you will never forget. Arpa is a skiers and snowboarders paradise featuring 1000-meter descents, no crowds, and limitless touring potential. Currently Arpa’s base area consists of 3 stone bunkers built into the side of the mountain. Its 2 snow cats can accommodate up to 25 skiers/snowboarders per day accessing 5000 acres of terrain. In a typical day, at least four trips in the snow cat will have you riding 12,000 vertical feet of some of the best, untracked powder in the world.
